50 Cent will be working together with Jam Master Jay’s cousin, Phonz (real name: Stephon Watford) to release a documentary on the legendary Jam Master Jay.
The documentary, titled Two Turntables and a Microphone, has been in the works for the past five years.
“It’s intense,” 50 Cent told MTV.
“He was somebody who impacted my career – you can say in the biggest way.”
“Cause in my career, I was just in the infant stages, developing my song structure around Jay. The first time I was in the studio [it was] with intentions of recording songs for an album with Jam Master Jay. He taught me how to count bars. I could rap already. I knew what I wanted to say, but he was showing me how I had to get it out around the right time. [He would say] ‘That sounds crazy; you have to say it earlier in this verse’.”
Limited copies of the documentary will be included with the purchase of 50’s upcoming album, Before I Self Destruct.
Before I Self destruct will be available in stores and on iTunes December 9.
