It's been so long since I fucked with this shit and I'm sleep deprived at the moment so maybe I'm confused but... I just equalized this to sound more to my particular liking of how a mix should sound. It sounded pretty clear and crisp, and the compression didn't really sound like it fucked up the hihats too much. It sounded good. Sharpen and brighten the entire mix if you find you have to muffle the vocals to blend with the instrumental?
Or better yet, find a stereo imaging plugin or application and broaden anything above 750Hz-1kHz in the mix. Let the lower frequencies be unaffected. Play with that threshold using your ears. I used to do it to "mask" compression/"dataloss" in, say, digitalized tape or vinyl rips that I wanted to remaster.
Anyway, cool sounding / catchy chorus. I prolly won't put it on my iPod, but don't take it personally. I just don't have one.
