AllHipHop.com has confirmed that Bay Area rapper Keak Da Sneak was arrested on July 10 and charged with four felony counts. The arrest occurred around 11 PM in Sacramento, a few hours after Keak had attended a funeral.
The apprehension left the Hyphy pioneer with unspecified injuries which he was treated for. Afterward, he was booked on firearms charges and resisting arrest.
Keak remained detained over the past weekend due to a separate outstanding warrant. A Justice Department statement confirmed he appeared before a magistrate judge on Monday, July 14.
At press time, Keak is scheduled to post bail and be released in the next few days.
A Bay Area veteran and favorite, Keak began his career in 1994 appearing on C-Bo's 1994 EP The Autopsy. He would gain his first mainstream exposure in 1997 as a member of 3XKrazy, with their single "Keep It On the Real."
As a solo artist, Keak's biggest moment came in 2006 with his
appearance on E-40’s "Tell Me When to Go," which sparked a short national interest in Hyphy music.
His latest album, Deified, was released on June 10 through Koch Records. The album features appearances from Prodigy, Alchemist, Too Short, Celly Cel, Lil Keke, and Daz.
