Busta Rhymes has enough legal woes as it is after the fatal shooting of his body guard but now he is being sued by a fan. Melvin Smith, 37, filed a lawsuit with the Manhattan Supreme Court claiming Busta Rhymes and a body guard named Troy Green, assaulted him without cause.
"Melvin went in to get an autograph and got a knuckle sandwich instead," according to Bruce Regenstreich, Smith’s lawyer. Apparently his client requested an autograph from rhymes in a Manhattan sandwich shop near City Hall, but instead received an injury above his eye that later required four stitches.
Smith also claims he suffered extensive neck and back injuries and is now unable to continue his profession as a handyman. The amount he is seeking in damages is unspecified.
It is not the first time Busta Rhymes has been sued over an alleged assault. In 2002 a woman claimed the rapper held her by the hair and threatened her life. She was later charged with misdemeanor assault and battery after it became apparent that in actual fact, she was the guilty party. Rhymes was cleared of all charges.
Currently Busta Rhymes is not speaking to either media or authorities and therefore is yet to comment.
