Rapper and entrepreneur Sean Combs (aka Diddy) is working hard on his new LP and is considering a world-wide tour after signing with William Morris Agency, a company that specialises in live music.
“Everything is going to focus around the record, which he is diligently working on now,” said Brent Smith of WMA. Smith wants to ensure that if Diddy goes on tour it will provide the right opportunities, "Almost every year there is one package that goes out, and this year it is yet to be nailed down," he said. "There's a bunch of people talking about different things, but there is no definitive hip-hop package out there. We'll know probably in the next four weeks whether a package is going to form or not."
And as Smith points out, this is a man you want to get things right for, “Who doesn't know him? If you don't know who Diddy is you've been living under a rock the last 10 years."
When speaking to the BBC at the end of 2005, Diddy announced 2006 would be the year of his return which would put both himself and his record label, Bad Boy, up with the front runners of the music industry once again. Combs has already created a clothing line named Sean John through which he recently released Unforgivable, a new fragrance for men. With the enormous amount of media attention that the fragrance received, the pending release of a new album, the potential for a grand-scale tour and some ‘Coming Soon’ messages on the Sean John website, it appears that the take-over is already well under way.
