An invasion of privacy lawsuit against Dr. Dre over a conversation appearing on a DVD has been dismissed.
It was filed by three former employees of the City of Detroit who claimed that hidden cameras had illegally filmed their conversation in July 2000. They had been asking producers not to show a video containing nudity and gun violence to the audience, not knowing it was being recorded. The tape footage was then added to the Up In Smoke DVD, which was released in December 2000.
The judge decided that the trio had no reason to believe the conversation was private, therefore making it acceptable for Dr. Dre to have added it to the DVD. The lawsuit was then dismissed but the workers' attorney has said he'll appeal against the verdict.
The Up In Smoke tour was one of the highest grossing hip-hop tours ever, and featured rappers such as Snoop Dogg, Eminem and Warren G.
