Rapper Fabolous was arraigned in Manhattan Criminal Court Wednesday on two counts of illegal gun possession following an incident early Tuesday in which he was shot in the leg.
The Brooklyn-born 28-year-old was with three friends while leaving the restaurant Justin’s, owned by Sean "Diddy" Combs. He was allegedly approached by the suspect and shot once in the leg.
As his three friends attempted to rush him to Bellevue Hospital, they were pulled over by police, who found two unlicensed and loaded guns in the car. All four were arrested on gun charges. Fabolous was eventually taken to the hospital where he was treated for his injuries.
The rapper's lawyer, Alberto Ebanks, said his client "is a victim of a crime and not guilty or involved in any crime." The complaint also says one of the serial numbers on one of the guns had been filed off.
Judge Abraham Clott ordered that the rapper, whose real name is John Jackson, return for a hearing on Oct. 20 after paying $15,000 in bail. As of press time, police were still looking for the shooter.
