Jay-Z recently inked a lease deal to open versions of his high end sports lounge, the 40/40 Club, in Shanghai, Tokyo and Hong Kong. The clubs are all scheduled to open by the close of 2007.
The 40/40 Club is owned by Jay-Z, Baseline Studios founder Juan Perez and Miami night life business veteran Desiree Gonzalez. They opened the first club in New York City June 20, 2003, and in the next two years secured spots in Atlantic City, Las Vegas, Los Angeles and Singapore. The 15,000 sq. foot Atlantic City site, opened October 25, 2005, cost Jay and his partners about $3 million.
All of the clubs are decked out with sports memorabilia, such as framed autographed jerseys, and plasma televisions showing the latest game.
