Mega superstars Lil Wayne, Kanye West and Jay-Z lead this year’s nominees for the upcoming BET Hip Hop Awards in Atlanta.

In front of the pack is Weezy who has a total of 12 nominations including “Best Hip Hop Video” for his T-Pain assisted hit record “Lollipop” and “Track of the Year” due to his non-stop thumping “A Milli.”

While West made headlines for his recent altercation with paparazzi, the platinum selling rapper follows behind with a sum of seven nods in categories including “Best Live Performer” and “CD of the Year” for his multi-platinum selling album Graduation.

Jay follows in third place with just one nod shy of ’Ye as the hip-hop mogul has been nominated for a total of six nods. He will be up against stiff competition including former rap rival Nas, T.I., Ye and Weezy in the “Lyricist of the Year” category.

Returning to host this year’s ceremony, Katt Williams will lead a spectacle filled night where Russell Simmons will be honored with the “I Am Hip Hop Icon Award” and the “Hot 16” freestyle challenge will have challengers compete online for a chance to record with hit producer Jermaine Dupri.

Other nominees for this year’s event include David Banner, Plies, Flo Rida, DJ Khaled, Snoop Dogg, Common, Rick Ross, Busta Rhymes and many more.

The BET Hip Hop Awards will air on Thursday, October 23 at 8 PM EST from Atlanta.

In related news, Weezy has re-signed to Cash Money Records with founders Ronald “Slim” Williams and Bryan “Baby” Williams.

“Working with our son, Lil Wayne, throughout the many years has helped us build Cash Money into the empire it is today,” Baby said in a statement. “Cash Money is a family and Lil Wayne has been part of our family since day one.”
