According to The Associated Press (AP), rap superstar Lil Wayne is leading the number of Grammy nominations with eight nominations, right above Coldplay, who has earned only seven nominees.
Wayne has been nominated for “Album of the Year,” “Best Rap Album,” “Best Rap Solo Performance,” “Best Rap Song,” and “Best Rap / Sung Collaboration,” among others.
The New Orleans rapper successfully gained multi-platinum status on The Carter III and has continued to keep up the pace.
Other nominated artists include Ne-Yo, T.I., Ludacris, Young Jeezy, Estelle, Big Boi, Rick Rubin, and Will.i.am.
The 51st Grammy Awards will be broadcast live from the Staples Center on CBS on February 8, 2009 at 8 PM ET / PT.
