Grammy Award-winning rappers Treach, Vin Rock and DJ Kay Gee, better known as Naughty By Nature, have reunited and will be releasing a brand new album together.
While the rap group has been inactive for quite some time, they made a recent appearance as one of the five honors at VH1’s Hip-Hop Honors special.
“We’ve been talking about reuniting for about two years. Then about three months ago, we decided to go ahead,” DJ Kay Gee told Billboard.
“We’re going to make universal party tracks with great hooks; street anthems, social and political anthems, anthems for the ladies. Nothing has changed from that standpoint. But we’re not 19-20 anymore, so things will be a little different lyrically. We don’t want to make a record that sounds like we’re just trying to chase 15-year-olds. We do want to appeal to them but at the same time, we want the music to be natural and comfortable for us.”
The new album is scheduled to be released early next year and will be a follow-up from their 2002 album, IIcons.
In the past, the trio has worked with hip-hop acts such as Eazy-E, Queen Latifah and Tupac Shakur.
