At his recent performance at B.B Kings on Times Square, hip-hop legend Rakim confirmed he will be releasing a new album this year.
A standing room only crowd watched the rap god and Kid Capri (who took the place of Rakim’s former DJ Eric Barrier (Eric B) ) rock the spectators who had taken advantage of the rare performance.
The crowd was not just filled with fans but a score of noted Producers, Emcee’s and DJ’s from the underground and mainstream all appearing at the club to salute the Long Island Emcee. Granmaster Caz, Kool Herc, Pete Rock and Immortal Technique were just a handful few of the personalities on stage and in the crowd. M1 oF Dead Prez was promised to headline before Rakim but many acts preceeded as the crowd grew weary.
During the performance Rakim hinted at why his album never came out under Dr.Dre and said if he could do it over he “would have taken his talents elsewhere”, but his new album Seventh Seal would be coming out the summer of 2006.
