!Only serious replies please!

Me and a friend of mine are planning on buying stuff to record our shit with. We already know stuff about the mic but i want to know what software you use to record, mix, add sounds etc.
Plus does it matter what kind of soundcard you got and if so, what soundcard would you recommend

alot of people like to use fruity loops because it is pretty simple to use. its not that bad. its good to start out on, you can download a trial version if you want to see if you like it. i hear alot of people at my school talk about how they love the reason program but ive never used it. i think i get to use it next week in one of my labs.

best thing to do is search the net for different software programs and see if they have a trial version, most do, and you can decide from there what you like and dont like before you spend alot of money on a software package.
