Joseph "Run" Simmons and his family held a small hospital room funeral for his daughter Victoria Anne Simmons, who died last Tuesday a short time after being born in Ridgewood, New Jersey.
The rapper tells the New York Daily News: "Right there in the hospital room, Bishop E Bernard Jordan prayed over the baby and gave a sermon. The funeral director came, too. That's how we did it. We prayed for acceptance. It's painful, okay? But you don't get mad at God. Acceptance is purifying."
Run, a founding member of the legendary rap group Run-DMC., and his wife, Justine, married in 1994, and have two sons Daniel (Diggy) and Russell II (Russy). Run's three older children, Vanessa, Angela and Joseph Jr., are from a previous relationship.
