On December 15th, 2007, legendary hip-hop entertainer Snoop Dogg will mount the House of Blues stage in L.A. to perform on behalf of the Snoop Youth Football League (SYFL).
"The kids in the league depend on me to keep it going and giving 100% of the sales from this concert is my way of making it happen for all of them", says Snoop Dogg. There's no word on whether "Tha Doggfather" will treat fans to more new cuts from his forthcoming LP Ego Trippin (2008); the colorful video for his new single "Sensual Seduction" is now in rotation on various mainstream outlets.
The twelve chapter, 2,500 member, California based SYFL has been around since 2001, and creator Snoop, though busy touring, recording and running Doggystyle Records, has coached and funded the business for the past three years.
"I am as committed to the SYFL as I am to any of my other interests – it ranks as high, if not higher than the others for me", says the star of the new E! family reality series Snoop Dogg’s Father Hood.
SYFL is committed to steering children away from the California gang culture by promoting the importance of academics, discipline, and responsibility. The SYFL was designed specifically to draw kids who don’t have the funds or guidance to play organized athletics.
Snoop seeks, via his pre-holiday House of Blues jump off, to make sure participants in this years Snoop Bowl (which will take place in Arizona during Super Bowl weekend) have new uniforms, transportation, lodging, and food. SYFL is sponsored by toy designer/marketer JAKKS Pacific, Cutters Gloves, Spirit Airlines, Amoro Management, and AMP’D Mobile.
