David Blanks (who goes by the name of Dasun Allah), an ex Editor-In Chief of the popular hip-hop publication The Source, has been sentenced to six months in jail.
Blanks was charged with assaulting two individuals with a gravel-filled satchel, a charge he pleaded guilty to.
Prosecutors claim Blanks spontaneously caused the incident on January 8th in Harlem, as there was no apparent provocation. New York authorities believe the blows created “substantial pain” for those on the receiving end.
Blanks has also written for publications such as Village Voice.
