Two men in Detroit have been charged with killing the man who drove rapper Proof to the hospital after he was shot in a nightclub last April.
John Henry Williams II, 31, and Corey Frazier, 29, were charged with first-degree murder and possession of a firearm during a felony in the shooting death of Gerald Rosic Gadie, who transported Proof to the hospital where he was later pronounced dead.
According to the Detroit Free Press, police say Gadie was killed in a dispute over 20 pounds of marijuana and $7,000 in cash that had been stolen from him last month. Gadie was found dead in the basement of his home on May 27.
Both men face mandatory life sentences if convicted. A preliminary examination is scheduled for June 30.
Gadie was with Proof at club CCC on Detroit’s 8 Mile when the D12 rapper was shot by Keith Bender Jr. Bender’s cousin, Mario Etheridge, then shot Proof in self defense, authorities later determined.
