Well, I tried Greyhound in Canada and they had nothing back then. It was an older bus though. Probably it had AC/heating, but in Canada it doesn't really matter in the summer 
oh, it had a very smelly crapper too.
Transit in the US sucks balls. I wasn't even counting the times I had to stay somewhere overnight because I couldn't get back home when travelling.
Now I'm in Poland and I'm taking a bus to Vienna for 40$ round trip, it's like 12 hours because of our shitty roads and traffic and all I can say is that the bus is super comfortable in comparison - there's everything and you can lay back and sleep.

Yeah, and we can get everywhere by some sort of bus or train, even to the smallest village that consists of 5 farmers and 2 cows dozens of miles from civilization.
That said American roads rock. They're of awesome quality, they're super wide.. too bad there are 40mph limits and no buses using them.
There are places in Europe like Greece or Montenegro where buses move on those super tight serpentine roads (basically patches of asphalt) just balancing over a cliff, rushing 100mph, overtaking slower cars on sharp corners while the driver is talking on an old ass phone at the same time. They would laught their asses of at American speed limits.

Yeah, we need an autobahn, at least in the more rural states. None within 100 miles of a city, but if you're driving from Chicago to, say, Atlanta or Dallas, there's plenty of country roads that can handle 100 mph traffic. And considering the roads are pretty much straight, it shouldn't be that big of an issue.
The point is that almost every bigger road in the US looks almost like autobahn. When I said they are awesome I really meant it. They are mostly straight, wide and of great quality. The speed limits are ridiculously low. We were driving a Chevy Camaro convertible there and during our road trips around the island we had to drive 40mph on a perfect road, almost empty that would easily allow you to go 100mph in western Europe. It was almost painful.
Now back to the bus system Hawaii had pretty good bus system.At least you could get to every bigger area on the island by bus, at least during the day.

Yeah, I'm not sure who determines speed limits, the US or the state. I think it's the state because Texas opened up a road to a 80 mph speed limit, or something like that, which was a huge deal.
While the speed limits near the city limits of Chicago are 55, most people do at least 60 and I'd venture to say about 40% do 70 and maybe 15% do 80. There have been many times on a three lane highway where I was going about 60 (with family in car) and would see cars zoom by going at least 70. You'll always see at least one person in a shit economy car do 90, which is always a treat.
So while the speed limits are retarded, many people exceed them by as much as 10 mph on the highway. I think people get more tickets in the suburbs, where speed limits are like...35.... and someone goes 50. The only time I ever got pulled over was when I was 17 and was going 48 or so in a 35 and a cop car was camping in a parking lot on the side hidden by trees. I think it was a $95 ticket? It was horrible. Luckily I had just started my job a week earlier and had a paycheck due in soon which paid for it. But it was some real coonshit.

Well, the topic is a serious one too. So many people made career choices not knowing what this huge shift in demand was going to bring about and now you've got people that went to school to do something they love only to find out there's no opportunity for them in that field unless they are the very best.
I at least feel bad for them; I don't know what they could have done differently at the time with the knowledge they had then, but for those that truly went to school to learn and not to stamp their ticket to a guaranteed job, it's gotta suck. Not every student that's a communications major is some bimbo slut looking for an easy degree. Some really do enjoy broadcasting or journalism, etc.
But I guess our high school teachers did warn us that getting a job after college was gonna suck for our generation. Another teacher told us that most people "settled" for a business degree because it was easy, only to find out they were worthless unless they had a graduate degree, like an MBA.
I think everyone here is pretty settled in a career, or getting there in a field that isn't "doomed" but it's definitely a wake up call to me to make it through this medicine shit or else I'm gonna be cleaning lab equipment in a lab that cures cancer or some shit. And I just gotta sit idly by cleaning beakers. And that's best case scenario. I could be on the streets of Chicago sucking dick for Reese's cups.
