You might have some tegra 3 loving around then. Or better yet qualcomms monster soc coming out next year the snapdragon s4.

http://www.engadget.com/2011/10/08/...-soc-details-promises-improved-batte/?m=false

Either way if its early next year I'd probably wait a month or two to see what's coming out, even though there is always something better coming out
I don't think it's worth waiting for something more powerful than Tegra 3 at the moment. I mean - it's freaking quad core. It's like putting a 6 liter engine in a Honda. But I agree that now it's the worst possible moment to buy a tablet, knowing that the Transformer Prime is about to come out, and then other ICS tablets which I'm curious to see announed, which is probably going to happen very soon.

HTC have released some really crappy phones this year.
It was extremely obvious from the very beginning of 2011 that this is not their year when they came up with Desire S. Then the Senstation and its 'waste-of-money' variations when the market had Galaxy S2 only made sure that lack of innovation and simply having inferior products was the case.. and they were still overpriced too.

Citigroup analysts are who we go to in the tech world now? Lol.

But really what is inferior about their product? Only thing I can think of is the screen. From a business perspective one thing Samsung haa done right that htc hasn't is built a brand. People know what the galaxy line is, HTC has a million different names and phones. Even motorola is doing better than HTC with droid. I think of HTC had something like that they'd do better than they are now.

very bad cameras, average processors and graphics, they are of metal unibody but are rather thick and heavy, in most cases are overpriced and most of all none of 2011 models was innovative - none of them stood out at anything and there were always superior products in any price group.

They made decent brands but destroyed them with poor devices. Desire at its time was about as big as Galaxy, but they destroyed it with Desire S which wasn't even better than the original Desire. And that was when everyone anticipated new flagships from HTC, like Desire 2, which is what they should have released.
And they had a major opportunity to carry it on, especially with a lot of Android people being huge fans of HTC. They were in a much better position than Samsung which succeeded with great products despite far bigger opposition - after all a few years back they were one of the most disregarded mobile phone companies.
Also I don't think that Galaxy is an important brand. They could've released the Galaxy S2 and name it Samsung S2 and it probably wouldn't sell much less, just because it's a very capable and complete smartphone.
HTC would sell their tablets better if they were HTC Desire Flyer or something - just because their tablets were very poor.

I mean - I quite like HTC but I always thought that they were a bit overpriced - it was often kind of justified because they used to deliver quite capable smartphones when the competition didn't play serious yet and succeeded at creating a big brand. For some really strange reason with their rather high prices they made people believe that they are paying for premium devices of outstanding build qualtiy, which is very hard to achieve for a company, especially if it's not exactly true and you're Taiwanese.
But this year they failed by releasing a lot of poor products and having literally none seriously good while the competition moved on and came up with innovative and really cool and complete devices.

The HTC Amaze (or Ruby) has an excellent camera, and is overall a very good phone (despite the ass-shat battery and HTC Sense in there), but releasing one decent phone after all the poo isn't going to help them.

^ But it's a giant phone, it weights 172 grams, is 12mms thick and looks rather bad. Oh, and it's released in a few countries for one brand only so I doubt it's any significant for HTC.

My previous two phones were both HTC and like most people I have a general amount of brand loyalty, but they just weren't cutting it this year. The competition from HTC when I bought the S2 was the Sensation, shit wasn't good enough. Not quite as thin as the S2, a touch heavier, it FELT bulkier, and the processor was inferior, so was the screen. It wasn't just HTC though, Moto's premium phone at that time was the Atrix and that wasn't cutting it compared to the S2 either and both of them cost the same.

Yeah, and camera and audio quality on Sensation are also inferior. The latest Sensation (XL I believe) has improved audio quality (the Beats audio one) but still it's not anywhere close to being on par with Samsungs.
