Anyone remember not too long ago the articles going around with Apple saying 4" screens are too big for the thumb and all that? Someone find one for me

I think it was this:
http://thenextweb.com/apple/2011/10...-and-will-most-likely-never-be-bigger-than-4/

Also, I found these:

That taller iPhone doesn't look good. It's obviously a decision made for media such as video playback.

Yeah. While I was looking for articles concerning this earlier I ran across some showing two black bars at the side of apps. So some apps won't even use all the screen real estate, funny. Unless they're updated of course

Sony's Xperia T looks like a refreshed Arc - they simply added a dual core Krait, bigger screen and a newer camera. I like it. Doesn't stand out but looks simply like a good Android phone.

I'm curious about HTC's upcoming event. I hope it's not about a tablet or Windows 8 phones since nobody cares about those.

If HTC can come up with new Android devices that are going to be better than One S and One X they will have a winner. My guess is that it's still a bit too early and they'll just show some crappy win 8 phones.

I thought they were going to make a successor to the HTC Flyer...

I'm wondering what the implications for next year's Nexus tablet is going to be now that we will probably get a 3G capable Nexus 7 and the rumoured Nexus 10 soon. By the time these devices are released, say October/November/December, the new versions might be out not much longer after that, within 6, 7 or 8 months. Is it worth waiting until next year do you think? or am i reading into this a little too much?

I'd prefer a 3G enabled version of the Nexus 7 at 16GB. 8GB will do, but might as well double to storage for not much more. Then I'd probably go with Giff Gaff unless T-Mobile can do me a good deal.

Also, does manufacturer bloatware consume more battery since it hogs up RAM in the running processes and cached processes? Or is it no different to vanilla Android?

Got my GS3, but can't root it on my Mac. Heimball gives me shit about some protocol not initializing and whatnot. Might have to use our Windows computer and follow the Windows instructions then. *sigh*

No, ODIN doesn't run natively on OSX. Heimdall has it as a known issue as well. I ended up using a Windows machine and it took all of 3 minutes to download and root.

Installing CM10 now.

Let me know if CM10 is stable, please. I am still running supernexus on mine.

I am running it on my Sprint GS3, so YMMV. It is very stable. Camera works, although I read somewhere that it doesn't. But it does for me, and does so well. No random reboots, freezing, etc.

If you have any other criteria for determining if it's "stable," let me know. I've been using it for 12 hours now, with no issue at all. I am on the 9/5/2012 build. The latest.

It seems as if there are no kernels for my Sprint GS3. Shit. Not that it's slow, but I was hoping for 2 Ghz or faster by now.

Things like the camera not working are major issues for me. The only problems I have on my current rom are dodgy tethering, which I hardly ever use, and some memory leak which is resolved by rebooting every few days. I will hold off on flashing CM10 for a while, as I would need to do a wipe. There is a new build of my current rom being released on saturday and I can just flash it without wiping or deleting the cache.

Acknowledged your latest comment about keeping your current ROM for the time being.

But this is the page you want to check for the latest stable releases for the SGS3:
http://download.cyanogenmod.com/?device=i9300&type=stable

If you click on nightly, you can see that the first one was posted on (and I'm doing this for you Americans, because I'm doing it the proper way - the English way) 4/9/12, which means its still early stages. The first experimental ROMs of CM10 was released on 18/8/12.

Full days use, just saw one random reboot when I shut the screen off. It was immediately after I did that. Weird, but functionality still remains. Lost a bit over 50% battery between 10AM and 6PM. I was using it a good bit in between breaks for surfing and texting. And I have my GPS and data on all day, no WiFi with weather updates being pushed every two hours.

So it's holding up well for now. I may stick on this nightly for a week or so, because once I get into updating every day, I turn into a maniac expecting big changes every day and not getting them. I'll bump up every seven releases, so long as the current release is stable.

I'm trying to decide between this and the new Kindle Fire HD. I don't like the Amazon exclusivity about it, but it will be easier to resell when I want to upgrade.
Yep. Me too. For my son. I have a small issue with Amazon's business practices, and this puts me off too.

The whole ad-supported aspect of some of the models is pretty gay. I was reading the preview on Anandtech and the comments were all about how much coonshit the whole ad-supported thing was.

Apparently the Fire sales weren't all that great? I never really keep up with sales, so.....
