I don't see anyone in the UK with Sony Phones. Most have an iphone or an S3 / S4. But.... In countries such as France, Spain, Italy... etc. They are 20 years behind.
The UK and US are specific markets because phones get almost fully subsidized by carriers, so you can basically pick any phone you want, and you're likely to pick between flagships as you're getting them "for free" anyway.
Rest of the world sees flagship phones as something totally out of reach unless they have extremely expensive-ass plan, 90% of buyers there still go for low-end or mid-end devices. That's where Sony shines, as they offer almost high-end tech in mid-end price.

Sony's flagship, the Xperia Z is slightly behind the S4 and HTC One, but it's also significantly cheaper, so it sells well.
Now Sony came up with Xperia ZR which is a really great phone that is basically like Xperia Z, but costs not much more than half of what the S4 costs and has some sort of awesome battery life. It's waterproof too, like most of Sony phones now.

Sony make very good phones. Now that they improved their display quality with the Xperia Z Ultra (hopefully they'll keep it for all future phones) I guess they'll be amongst the best.

Soo.. LG again confirmed that they're not working on the Nexus smartphone. They said they'd be open to that idea though. Their CEO said that they won't release Google Editions of their phones, however.
It means Google probably fucked them over to use Moto, their company to build one. Not fair. I'm also not holding my breath to this year's Nexus then. Moto couldn't even do last year's hardware justice, how are they going to make a good bleeding edge phone then? While maintaining quality they were never known for.. and decent value for money that they're also not known for. I'd be more than happy if they pleasantly surprised though. After all that'd be a marketing stunt they really need.

Well, the G2X is promising and if LG's UI is decent, it may not even require a stock ROM port. The camera on that thing is supposed to be nuts. If people actually look at it when buying their next phone, it might sell pretty well.

Pittsey mentioned the GalNex. What was wrong with it, outside of US folks that had Sprint or Verizon as a carrier which fucked it in the ass?

Did it not get decent updates? Or was it that it was released so far from the S2 release even though it essentially was an S2, that it made it not worth getting?

Considering Samsung's cycle is not in sync with Google's Nexus cycle, it's hard seeing the S5 having a Nexus variant as well. Maybe a Google Play Edition, but not Nexus. Looks like the word might be true, that Moto has this one in the bag. Let's see what they do....

Yeah. They released the s2 very soon after.

Oh it wasn't the other way around? I thought the S2 was out before. I guess not.

My mom has the Gal Nex. I seriously regret depriving her of TouchWiz and telling her to get it over the S2. Which had a better camera, if I'm not wrong.

LG's UI is probably one of the worst, if not the worst Android UI layers. Their updates suck too.
The camera appears to be pretty much on par with other flagships, the S4 or Xperia Z, but we're yet to see comparisons.

Yeah the Galaxy Nexus came out directly in between the S2 and S3. I'd say the S2 was a slightly better phone overall because it had a better camera and battery life. The Galaxy Nexus had bigger screen and stock Android. It's worth remembering that at that time these were 2 best phones on the market, hardware-wise.

Well, if you knew you were going somewhere where you would take pics, it would be worth it. Auto show, you and your camping trips to get butt fucked by bears.

You'd want to capture those memories.

Picked up the new N7 at Best Buy in central Hollywood..... it is beautiful

Wasn't able to get a Chromecast. The guy said they had one hundred of them, 2 days before I was there. They sold every last one within 10 minutes. Crazy.

I like the idea. For quality, I suppose a Nokia 1020 would do an equally good job in a way smaller shell and is still considered "bulky". It also runs WP and is overpriced though.

Yeah, but these days CM is not always the best option for some devices, or people just prefer other ones. I use CM almost exclusively, so I guess this will work. I remember about a month ago, CM had a video that was teasing something. I think I posted it here. Not sure if this announcement was what it was.

So now it the rumors have shifted back to LG and the G2 being the next Nexus device. I guess we just won't know until Q4 when more info. is out.

Sidenote, I'm starting to back pedal on getting another tablet entirely now. I've made some more money selling some stuff, including a 3.5 year old BlackBerry 9630 (the one with the trackball) for $75. Not bad, considering brand new ones (surprised they're still out there) are going for about $64 on eBay. I am cooning coons right now with these sales. Selling my HD428s for $50 when I got them for under $40, shipped. So I'm kinda excited now, because I can tack on my $90 Amazon credit and really go wild. $250+75+50+20+$10 (hot plate which was for 15 before I abused it for a semester)+$90 Amazon credit is a fuck ton of money.

So now I'm getting real careful about even spending $70 to get an upgraded set of cans, like the Sony MDR70s, or whatever.
