Really, you're not missing anything. If I could, I would clear my info and simply give you my account.

I'll probably leave my FB account up for the time being but won't post on it much. It's taking me a bit of time to get the feel of the crowd on G+ if that makes sense. I know on Twitter I can say whatever I want, however frequently I want... on FB.. I feel guilty if I update my status more than 3 times per day unless something really interesting is going on. I'm not sure where that line is on G+. I don't want to spam ppl. I DO love how easy it is with the circles in regards to who sees what. This way certain controversial things I can post and everyone doesn't have to see it. Which will save me a lot of annoyed messages.

There's not a way to post on someone's profile on G+ though, is there? I can't figure it out if there is.

If you want to send something to Amy Winehouse, you'd type "+Amy Winehouse" and it will be visible to her and her only. You can do the same with other things by simply adding a "+" in front of something, whether it be a name or a circle of friends.

Is it only if the "+" goes first? Because I've seen things come up in my stream that are +Coonie for example. And it's still visible. I guess I'll have to test it out.

Maybe the person's privacy setting are set in that way. They are talking to Person A, but they let everyone in their Friends circle, for example, see it so that Person B-Z can see it as well. Maybe even comment on it. But everyone can see still see it.

if you type "+<name> <message>" and hit "Share" it will share the message with the person whose name you typed, on their wall, for your eyes and theirs. if you click "add people" before you share it, you can add circles. then, anyone in that circle + you + the person you named will see the post, on their wall. hope that clears it up for you.

the short answer to your question is yes, you can post on people's wall.

Thank you! Didn't even know you were on G+. But I've found and added you! :)

They're both wrong, putting the +name makes sure the person see's it, but does not guarantee privacy.

See the image below for the correct way;

Ya, this is actually what I meant, I was just unclear or didn't specify about the concern about privacy. Basically, on my G+, when I typed +name it put that person as the only person I shared it with, automatically. Then I could add anyone else whom I also want to see it.

I think the +name is the G+ alternative of the use of @name on Twitter and facebook. So putting it in the main message serves no more purpose than that.

Ok so something me and Syn were discussing yesterday is that alot of website like Youtube and many blogs now have a +1 button, so you can share with others interesting stuff found online. Its also an indicator of popularity, and is handy keeping bookmarks for when you away from your main browser.

The problem we had is it did not display +1d pages on peoples profile. For some reason this is disabled by default.

However, we did in the end find out how to enable it.

First you'll need to goto your profile and hit the Edit button. After that see below;

Now click Finished Editing.

It takes a few minutes to update, but the +1 tab is now visible to people visiting your page.

I'm hoping they add the ability to show the +1 as a post so its easier to share stuff.

Tom Anderson (founder of MySpace) has posted lots of positive and interesting things about G+ on his G+ page, it's pretty cool reading.

This is a good one he just posted.

Yesterday I wrote a little bit about public opinion, and how it's a "filter" for most people -- an idea that grows and becomes popular tells us what to pay attention to. Popular opinion affects our opinion and subconsciously (some might say insidiously) influences our behavior. Google is an amazing company. If the average non-techie knew even 1% of the things going on behind the scenes, they'd be floored. But the average Joe does not know. My sense is that Google was never truly seen as an "exciting" or "sexy" company to the average Joe.

Yes, technical people admired Google. But to non-techies, Google just works. It does what you want it do. And its design and utility is so straightforward and, well, utilitarian, it's kinda just "there." You use electricity everyday -- it's absolutely critical to everything you do, but you don't think much about the company that supplies the power to you.

With Google+, we're in the beginning phases of a sea change. G+ is going to affect the way people appreciate and think about Google. Put simply, G+ is going to make Google "sexy" to the average person. Pundits & investors have already recognized the excitement around this new "Google." That's where that $45 billion dollar increase in market cap just came from. (http://tcrn.ch/qHca93) And that stock market excitement is forming a virtuous circle with the excitement of the G+ project itself.

The good feeling for Google is going to grow. It's going to spread beyond tech circles, and Google may have something of the Apple aura, if it can continue down this path. People are going to love Google like they never loved it before. People are going to hang on their product announcements the way they never did before. Larry Page and Sergey, if they so choose, will start to be seen more like a Steve Jobs than a Bill Gates. And all of this is not just because G+ is addicting (which it is). It's because G+ is about people and community. It's a celebration of our very existence, in a more obvious way than "organizing the world's information" ever was.

Google is sexy now. And I'm loving it.

P.S. If you're interested in reading about some of the amazing things "behind the scenes" at Google, I'd reccommend you pick up Steven Levy's "In the Plex". (http://amzn.to/ovS5Rr) It's an important book, at an important time. Levy has followed the Google story since 1999. and has had uncommon access to people throughout every level of the company.

Hahahaha. I saw that a few days ago - Tom actually posted it himself on G+.

He doesn't work for Google, he's just a power-user of G+ who has been using and promoting it a lot.

He doesn't have to work ever again, I don't think. When he sold MySpace to Newscorp 4 or 5 years back, it was for almost $600 million, I think. As co-founder, he would have gotten a serious chunk of it.

OK. I was meant to post this a week or so back when I joined G+.

How the FUCK am I already in sandeeps circle? I dont even know him and have NEVER communicated with him.

It scared the shit outta me. I literally had no friends added when I joined and his fucking name pops up along with his uni-brow picture?
