That's a subjective opinion. It's not up to you to define what someone feels is racist - especially someone OF that race.
I'm a Mod on this board and I interpret the rules, like Chief Justice John Roberts.

Also, whether someone lives in the US is not is irrelevant. This board isn't even owned by an American. It's neither solely populated nor solely modded by Americans either.
yeah but it's safe to say that outside of Kobe, EDouble, and not many others, people "get" the jokes. There's an implicit understanding of the type of humor that pervades the board. we're all the "in" group.

As recently as 2011 (50 years later!!!) screening's of the 1961 movie "Breakfast At Tiffany's" have been protested. It's been ranked as THE most racist major motion picture ever made by even liberal websites like Complex.com
this actually makes no sense (or, makes perfect sense, depending on how you look at it) because liberals label everyone and everything racist. it's what "we" do.

also, 2012 humor, as in 2012 internet humor.

to put it in perspective, it's kind of like rape jokes, since that's in the news now thanks to the Tosh.o fuckery.

a girl will sit there and probably laugh at gay jokes, black jokes, fat jokes, indian jokes, abortion jokes, white jokes. then she hears a rape joke and starts heckling.

but wait a minute, all the other jokes are OK? yeah. right.

Someone want to fill me in?

Were these posts reported?
I am not sure of the specifics. I think there was some offence taken at some pictures in the post a picture thread. I don't think he reported any posts.

I also think it was mainly the more liberal direction the board moves in in regards to criticism of religion and more edgy humour than it used to. I also think (assume) that Kobe wasn't happy with some of Coonie's comments. Although I haven't seen those posts. The only one I can remember is his name change request that time. I also remember him being told that it won't be happening. http://www.streethop.com/community/threads/changing-my-name.237870/

I think it would have been better for Kobe to enter the discussion and talk about the issues that have offended him, rather than sticking his leaving post in a forum I have never visited and disappearing. If there was a racism issue, and I don't believe there is, it would be better for him to challenge it directly rather than him leaving (or being forced out).

I remember when we censored the N-bomb here. I think we are passed that stage where we need to control each users content as much, but that there should still be a strict moderation of that word. I can't think of a real word situation where I have ever needed to use that word, and the same can be said of online. A black friend of mine posted on facebook recently about how the popularity of rap has put the word 'nigga' into our daily media consumption and taken away the understanding of the real meaning of the word 'nigger' which carries a "legacy of slavery that reaches beyond the void of time and history."... But now I am losing the point of my post.

Wait, I've been gone for a week so I might've missed it; Why are we comparing criticism of religion to criticism of race? Religion is a personal choice, race is something you're born as. Apples and oranges people, apples and oranges.

I don't know man. Where I come from, you don't use the word nigger, period. If you do, expect to be looked at with disgust by those around you and probably a punch in the face. Only people who are pieces of shit talk like that.

I agree. But.... If you are at a concert and the word is in the lyrics, do you then skip that word?

you can describe them as apples and oranges but discrimination can go across religious and racial lines sometimes they are criticized concurrently
I believe its discriminatory to put people down based on their faith

I dont want to switch this to another thread but what's the shame for you?

Laughing at the religious is at least as "bad" as laughing at those who decide to change their gender, died because of drug abuse etc. etc. All of them were choices that you consciously made and I don't think that poiting fingers and laughing would be fine. Just like it wouldn't be okay to point a finger at a black person and shout the n-word. If only because you're a douche if you do so.

HOWEVER I don't see how those jokes should be banned. Any of them. I don't get mad for Polish or geek jokes if they aren't directed at me in a mean way. I think instead of banning everything that might offend anyone we should evolve and learn to chill and take a joke like it's meant to be - it's made to make you smile.

If I'll ever hear "you're Polish so you steal cars and drunk drive" as a joke that's always going to make me smile. The point at which I would begin to get concerned is if someone was serious about it. Too many people take offense, see tragedy and hatred everywhere, and they rush to ban everything they don't like. They should learn to chill and appreciate life and grow their own personality.

At the same time.... I can laugh at all disabilities. Jimmy Carr is (was) my favourite comedian. And his material is edgy to say the least. Laughing at a joke about Downs Syndrome is not a hate crime as far as I am aware. Nor would laughing at a racist joke. Obviously not Michael Richards material.

Firstly, I think anyone that uses the word nigga, and isnt black, is a moron and should be treated as such, seriously.

Secondly, Im not so ban happy as before, we've all grown up, we're all in our 20s, sort it out like men. What will you do in real life if someone insults you? Leave? Ask for a ban? Come on, talk it out, most people will see that the racist is a retard and laugh at him... I hope.

If it comes to the point where it;s just being racist for the sake of seriously disrupting shit, then yeah, hand a ban out.

Exactly, it's why I made this thread. No need to ban and moderate people's posts, we're not 14 anymore.
