And Ill point you to an unending list of scientists who prove that the human body needs PROTEIN to grow.

Are you going against scientists or is Veganism now your Religion?

Oh, and Protein supplements come from animal products. Soy protein has too much estrogen to be good for you. And no one wants to eat 12 servings of beans a day.
LMFAO at protein supplements only coming from animal products. All living beings need protein. Gorillas, cows, etc? Where do you suppose they get it from?

Did you know that 5 oz of Tofu has 11 grams of protein? Did you know that 1 cup of Broccoli has 4 grams of protein, and 1 cup of rice has 5 grams? A cup of baked beans has 12 grams. 1 cup of oatmeal has 6 grams. 2 tablespoons of peanut butter has 8 grams. And just ONE CUP of lentils, which I could eat every day because my Auntie's dhal is one of the most delicious things I've ever tasted, has ...wait for it.... 18 GRAMS.

1 cup of black beans has 15 grams of protein, 1 cup of kidney beans has 13, 1 cup of Tempeh has 41 grams, 3 ounces of Seitan has 31 grams of protein, 1 cup of Quinoa has 9 grams.

Want me to keep going?

Rukas, you're totally right. Exercise totally helps limp-dick. I ran on the treadmill the other day for 20 minutes and I got one while I was running. Had to stop because I felt so light-headed. But I can attest to your claim of exercise being the cure.
I farted really hard once at the gym as I was lifting weights. People heard me, I never returned. lol

Gorilas, cows, etc, have different GENETICS than us. And the last time I checked, guerrillas didn't eat tofu or lentils. So your whole point is mute.

And Wow. 18 grams! So I'd need to eat 8 CUPS OF LENTILS just to get my protein quota in for the day! YIPPIE!

Gorillas. Moot. (couldn't help it)

No, they eat leafy greens. Spinach, kale, etc. Same thing we should be eating. Yes, they have different genetics. Obviously. Cows have different genetics to humans - which is exactly why we shouldn't be eating them or their byproducts. That's the whole point. It's not good for human consumption to consume meat or dairy. It's illogical and the cause of more disease and death than anything else.

A cup is not very much.

Your math means you need 144 grams of protein a day. OK....... the requirement for your average, healthy, 150lbs male is only 60grams a day, so I'm assuming you're trying to be some sort of bodybuilder.

Regardless - as stated, 1 cup of Tempeh has 41 grams of protein. That's about as much Tempeh as you'd have in one sandwich. Let's say you have 2 Tempeh sandwiches on whole wheat bread (about 3grams of protein per slice). That's 94 grams of protein right there, in your lunch.

A regular bowl of oatmeal has another 5 grams. If you had two bowls of oatmeal for breakfast, which is hardly a stretch, then between breakfast and lunch you're already at 104gram of protein before you even figure out your biggest meal of the day - dinner.

Dinner - 2 cups of rice (10g), 2 cups of lentils (36 grams), 3 ounces of Seitan (31 grams), perhaps some broccoli (4g).

Hey look, there's another 81grams of protein right there, bringing us to a grand total of 175grams of protein in just three meals that literally took me a few seconds to think of. That's a whole extra 31grams on top of your quota.

Anyway. It's nice to see that the video I posted at the top of this thread is also featured prominently on veganbodybuilding.com :D :D

Oh wow. Case closed then, you just won your ridicules vegan argument by correcting my spelling. Well played.

Nice work on the math by the way. Shame you're wrong. When I said I'd need 8 cups of lentils, I meant just to cover with what I supplement using protein powders, not what I eat throughout the whole day!! The human body needs 1.5g of protein for every pound just to put on ANY size. So a 150lb person (wow, what a light weight!) would need 225gs of protein.

A 200lb person would need 300grams. Etc, etc.

You're simply ignoring scientific facts and bending things to fit your Vegan religion.

I heard tuna was one of the best things to eat after lifting. And then Chobani Greek yogurt too.

I knew exactly what you were going to say. My point still stands because what you said had a certain finality to it, as in: okay, Casey, you didn't address the argument but I will anyway. Which is nonsense.

I'm not a vegetarian. I weigh 150. No way in hell I get 225g of protein in in a day. I bet I don't get in 150g.

I also don't have enough Vitamin D. I don't take my supplements as recommended.

There's not really a point to what I said. There's a little one, I guess. See if you can figure it out.

If you fucked around in the sunlight for 20 minutes or so, you'd get enough Vitamin D. No need for supplements or milk.

My parents have been eating soy based mock-meat things for years. I'm talking 15+. I eat it occasionally and it's alright. I do put a little hot sauce on it to flavor it up, but at the end of the day, I prefer the taste of meat. If I am really motivated, though, I could live off of Boca burgers and Tofurky sausages and all that. Tofu is pretty damn good too. Anyone had tofu noodles?

My point? There is none. I get plenty of protein and I'm really not picky in the ways I get it. My dad doesn't eat meat at all. He's not vegan, though, and he drinks milk in his cereal and tea but doesn't do fish or eggs. He lives well. His source of protein comes from the Indian dishes my mom and he eat. He's no bodybuilder, though.

I guess the point is if you want to pack on some muscle you need to eat more protein.

Yea, but I don't think packing on muscle means being healthy necessarily. It's not a direct relationship. Jokerman can back me up here.
