Sorry, I saw that some of you guys are considering the Nexus 7 and Amazon's tablets. The Nexus 7 is much better, it's better than the new Amazon tablets. It's better on paper but the difference in reality is much more significant. Nexus 7 is just flawless to use (and comes with stock Android and I bet at least two years of getting fresh new Android versions soon after announcements).
You can feel that Android 4.1 was made FOR this device and all tablet apps are optimized exactly for this device.
It's the smoothest Android experience at the moment and the tablet itself is of great quality - it's really hard to believe that it's only 199$ because you don't feel the cuts on component or build quality.

The new Xperias beat SGS3 in benchmarks but SGS3 is the most complete phone on the market (I also like HTC One S and One X but I realized that to be fair the SGS3 might be a better phone after all because it doesn't fail anywhere). A lot of Korean people here have them, including a chick I hang out with and I often play with that phone and it's really cool. The design kind of grew on me so while I don't love it I don't think it's ugly anymore. There's really nothing to complain about and the phone does good or very good in all areas.

Those new Xperias and RAZRs look like decent phones and if priced right they are great alternatives to the SGS3 but.. I have a feeling that Xperias might lack in the display area, RAZRs might offer inferior quality or battery life.. I just feel like Sony and Motorola are making attempts to catch up but they don't shine in any specific area and at the same time their phones usually lack.. something. You can feel that Samsung's more serious about their Galaxy series.

I remand the Anandtech review and he said the same thing. I actually read the review just yesterday.

I still find my TouchPad to be enough for my tabletting needs so far but if I were in the Market for a tablet, I would hope for a Nexus device like the 7. Despite being a couple hundred bucks cheaper than the iPad, it still outperforms all tablets in the benchmarks.

So I went ahead and got the Nexus 7 tablet at Office Depot. First, I had to use the jaws of life to get the box out of its slipcase. I like to keep everything in new condition if I have to take it back or re-sell it, so I try not to rip things open. But here they made the box smaller than the slipcase and it took about 15 mins of pushing and pulling for me to get it off. I checked online and there's even a video montage of people who had the same problem. Negative 1 right there. No problem starting it and getting it going. The plain, black tablet design is boring and I'm not crazy about Google's pushing it's media services on me like Amazon, but I can get around it. I do like the leather-feel of the back. I noticed on the bottom left side, that the screen lifts slightly. I can push it down and see backlight bleed. I went online and see that a lot of people have had this issue. Seems to be a design or quality-control flaw. But as it doesn't affect my user experience in any way, I'm not going to replace it just to get another one with the same flaw. You have to really press down on the left side for the bleed. Check yours, masta. Look to see if the glass sticks out by a hair's width from the back cover anywhere, esp the lower left side. Otherwise, I like it. But I will think twice before I buy something from Asus again.

You have to really press down on the left side for the bleed. Check yours, masta. Look to see if the glass sticks out by a hair's width from the back cover anywhere, esp the lower left side.

I just checked. It doesn't stick out. All is fine. If I press harder on the corner it bleeds a little but it also happens with all other LCD screens I have - including my phone so it's not any worse here. I don't do that normally anyway.

Overall I'm very happy with the build quality of my N7. Everything feels firm and solid, no moving or sticking out elements. Mine also doesnt have the display ghosting effect observed on some N7s - it was the most popular issue of first N7s.

Frankly, I used to think that things like these are cool but to be honest buying a spare battery is much more convenient - it's smaller and instantly gives you 100% of power. Those chargers aren't lossless so a 2000mAh one would normally charge a SGS3 to about 50% and take at least 2 hours to do so - if you use your phone at that time it would barely maintain it for 2-3 hours. Also it's bigger to carry and less reliable than an original battery.

Back in the days phone manufacturers used to sell those cool desk chargers that could charge your phone and a spare battery at the same time. It's popular in Korea to carry a spare battery always - Samsung used to include a spare battery with most phones they would sell there and it's also one of the reasons why they stick with removable batteries.

I see. I dunno where I would put a spare battery, though. In the car in the cold or heat it wouldn't fuck up? In pocket or wallet, same thing?

I bought an official spare battery and charger for 20 quid. Haven't actually used the battery yet, as mine lasts 2 days. But if I go away for a long weekend I can take the battery and not need a charger. Especially useful for festivals.

LG Optimus G officially launched: 1.5GHz Quad-core, 13MP, LTE, runs Android ICS

LG has officially launched the Optimus G – a 1.5GHz quad-core Android that’s running Ice Cream Sandwich. The Optimus G, according to the pres release, is a “new premium flagship device” that gives users the ability to “live without boundaries.” Korea will be the first to launch this next week, then they’ll be rolling it out to “key global markets in October.” Canada will most likely release this device then as it’s LTE enabled – plus we’re attending a media event on Wednesday.
The Optimus G has several unique “User Experience (UX)” features, one of them being “cross-tasking.” LG says that multi-tasking only gives the user the ability to run various apps at the same time, while “cross-tasking applies to complex tasks that can be completed simultaneously without having to compromise other tasks.” The list of UX features include: Slide Function, Live Zooming, Dual Screen Dual Play, QuickMemo, Screen Zooming, Application Link and Icon Personalizer.
Other notable specs have the G coming with a 4.7-inch WXGA True HD IPSPLUS (1280 x 768), 2GB RAM, 13MP camera, 1.3MP front-facing camera, 2,100mAh battery, 8.45mm thin, 145 grams, Wi-Fi, DLNA, and NFC.

Samsung May be Working on Galaxy Nexus 2 (GT-I9260), may be dubbed Galaxy Premier

Will we be seeing different versions of galaxy nexus devices anytime soon? According to a distant rumor, we just might see more than one variation of the Galaxy Nexus phone soon coming from Samsung. After the immense success of the powerful yet affordable nexus 7 tablet, it appears that the mere mention of the name Nexus represents affordability, power and reliability of Google’s Android devices. Sometime last month we mentioned that there was credible reports Samsung, LG and Sony were each working on at least one Nexus device each (Galaxy Nexus 2, LG Optimus Nexus and Sony Xperia Nexus respectively). Samsung’s may just come out first after all.

Google’s partnership with Samsung to bring us the Galaxy Nexus smartphone and with HTC and Asus has been fruitful as the Nexus devices have captured the hearts of many users. It is important for Google that as many devices as possible on the market run their Android operating system because being a search engine giant, its influence must penetrate every corner of earth to beat off competition. There is currently no credible reports whether the Galaxy Nexus 2 dubbed Galaxy Premier is real or not, but going by past rumors, it most likely is.
If the Galaxy Premier is in the kitchen hen it is likely to be a slight improvement to the Galaxy nexus phone which in itself has pretty impressive specs too. According to Pocket Now, the GT-I9260 device will pack an older ARM 11 processor and will have a screen resolution of 1280 X 720 pixels. Now, the issue of processor is a little confusing because this is the same CPU that the first Android device packed, the HTC dream. It would be illogical for Samsung to go back so many generations to revive a very old processor especially since the current galaxy nexus runs on a dual-core 1.2 GHz Cortex-A9 processor. It’s successor must have this or something better – I am thinking a tegra 3 dual core at 1.5 GHz at the minimum. The rumor however clarifies that the ARM Cortex –A11 CPU which does not exist yet would be an upgrade from the A9 found on the current Galaxy Nexus.
This is just a rumor, and a very strange on indeed, even when it comes to the name Galaxy Nexus Premier. If indeed there will be a name change then it would not be a nexus device really, just a new device that seeks to ride the wave of popularity the Galaxy Nexus created. Perhaps this may be the best platform for Google to introduce its rumored new operating system the Android 5.0 Key Lime Pie early next year. We have also read rumors of how Samsung may be planning a Galaxy Nexus S to succeed the Galaxy Nexus but this rumor seems to have fizzled in July. If Samsung is indeed working on a new Nexus smartphone, would it be so hard to just call it Galaxy nexus 2?
What do you think about these speculations of a new Galaxy nexus device? If it is indeed in the works, what features or specs do you wish the new phone needs to have to impress the Android market considering there have been so many changes and the competition has stiffened so much since the Galaxy Nexus was launched October last year?

I hope that Samsung g nexus 2 isn't real. I did read that there would be a high end and mid end nexus phone this holiday season though, that could very well be the mid end one. I bet that lg turns out to be a nexus device as well. Spec wise that thing is unfuckwitable

You don't think it's a bit obnoxious to mock something that is obnoxious this much? For a company like Apple, the sales are what matter most and they will beat Samsung's sales, no doubt, with the iPhone 5. Even Apple doesn't stoop to this level when going after competitors. Patents aren't much better, but this is literally "hey, look at me!! My product is better! No, look!! Here!!!"

Which is essentially what all advertising is, but you're supposed to be more subtle. This isn't gradual shots at Apple; it seems more like "release product months before, play the waiting game, when Apple comes out of its room with a new announcement, start parading your three month old product like it's hot shit." It reminds me a bit of the WBC and their protests. Attention-seeking.


I wish Samsung were more poised and proper in their methods. And this is coming from someone that bought one of their products without seeing a single commerical for it, before I had already made up my mind.

yeah, samsung is acting like a sore loser. it's kind of pathetic. they're making me not get a samsung phone because people will associate my purchase decision with those stupid ads.
