Why do we want them to take iOS market share? I don't.

You would prefer them to lose market share? These things don't stay static. Every day tens of thousands of people round the world are facing a choice of what smartphone to purchase, and for the majority of those people it's either gonna be Android or iOS. Apple are trying their hardest to make sure those people choose iOS. Google and their partners must do the same to swing the odds.

I mean.... we all know what the better platform is, but most people don't.

I care less about their market share. I care about my experience with the OS. If they have 30% or 90%, they will still be a viable OS.

Lower market share means less money to be made from apps, which means less developer interest, and less quality apps. That's why Windows Phone mostly sucks. Little market share and few quality apps. Microsoft had to pay Instagram to get them to develop a WP client.

Microsoft have 30% market share? Because I specified a range of market share, because I knew you'd come up with that point.

Call me a "retard," but Android needs another gimmick. I want a feature that "wow"s me and shows that Google has once again blown all our minds. I don't know what it is or should be; that's Google's job. But how about something that really makes me forget my Android "phone" is just a phone, again?

I say this because I am not sure all these "software tweaks" Google has been making has really improved my phone noticeably. My S3 feels just as fast as it did since Day 1. Battery life is constantly decreasing, which is expected from use of the battery, but if there were gradual improvements, perhaps the decline wouldn't be as steep or constant.

Also, anyone know where I can get a cheap S3 battery that won't melt against my leg?

I had my S4 serviced today.. and I mean today literally. I left it at 12:30pm at their service center here and they texted me to pick a brand new one at 2pm. Something minor happened to the display panel and it wasn't aesthetically pleasing. Turns out they'd have to replace the panel and they didn't have any spare ones so they gave me a new phone and a cover for trouble. Pretty awesome.

Also we're at a point where the best hardware in a phone is not in a Samsung flagship.. for the first time since 4 years ago. The top flagships are pretty much similar, with the exception of.. lol.. Nokia phones. This might sound a little crazy coming from me, but Nokia came up with the most successful hardware this year. Their phones are extremely underrated due to the fact that they're running Windows Phone.. and for a good reason. The point, however, is that with the Icon/930 they have the most complete smartphone with the best camera (not counting the 1020 which is also theirs) and AMOLED display second only to Samsung's and also the top-notch chipset and everything else, including unique design.
They also have extremely good phablets with the 1520, which is like the Note 3 but with even better camera and battery life, lol.

It's beyond me why they're using Windows phone. Years ago their argument was they couldn't stand against Android flagships, hardware wise, and they wanted to be different to stand a chance. Now they can stand their ground with really good hardware. They're just stuck with shitty, shitty software nobody wants, which holds them back to extreme extents. The only reason WP has their few percent of market share is due to the fact that people are buying Nokia phones despite their OS. For me that's way too much since it kills all functionality. BUT, if they came with Android on board they'd definitely skyrocket to being the second or third best. I know I'd buy the 930 if it was running Android, it's great hardware, just wasted on a shitty OS that has nothing.

Also small companies keep on stepping on toes of big manufacturers because they can pack the same hardware, lol. See Oppo or OnePlusfor example. They can offer the same as Sony, LG, other giants with a way smaller price tag and less bloated OS. They are running Cyanogen out of the box which many will even prefer.
Everyone's using the same chipset and fairly similar LCDs and cameras from the same few suppliers. Manufacturers can't differentiate now to make a statement anymore, except with support and things like AMOLED (Samsung, Nokia), awesome cameras (Nokia 1020), small bezels (LG, Samsung, although not this year, lol) or speakers (Sony Z2, HTC One). It seems like there's not much more they can do, most phones are fairly similar this year. Huge OEMs have to seriously step their game up, or people will start picking start-up company phones or Chinese phones due to getting much better value there with essentially very little negatives.

Now from the news, this is awesomeness, gotta love the tiny bezel on top:

Also, Snapdragon 810 is announced. Sure there's 64-bit (which doesn't mean much now), but they use A57 cores, which is extremely disappointing, since everyone moved in the direction of using their own custom cores, and Qualcomm was the leader with Krait, which was very efficient compared to generic ARM cores. Also, big/LITTLE wasn't a success compared to using just equal, efficient cores after all, which is a much less troublesome approach.

I want a fix for the bluetooth on my phone. I believe it's coming. It doesn't always connect in the car. I have to reboot the phone, to sort the BT.

I wonder why Sharp don't release their phones internationally? They used to, as part of their deal with Danger and T-Mobile. The Sidekick 2, Sidekick 3, Sidekick iD and Sidekick LX were all manufacturered by Sharp and were huge hits.

I wonder what the screen/bezel ratio on that is. The highest one available in Western markets is the LG G2, which is 75.7% screen on the front panel.

I'm probably getting an iphone soon. I'm kinda bored of android phones, feel like switching things up. also i'm tired of not being able to use my htc one comfortably in one hand. it's too bulky even if it's the sexiest mofo.

I always wondered this. Sharp is usually ahead of the curve, it was years ahead with big screen phones when the world was rocking clamshells. They'd be very successful if they went global. Similar with Panasonic as well, but it was ridiculous with them - they had awesome Japan-only phones but when they went global they prepared a shitty phone for the global market. I don't get it.

I'm going to see what the next iPhone brings. If they can catch up to Android and bring some proper, functional widgets to iOS, it might be it for me.

After messing around with Cydia on my sister's iPad 3, I've realized I can customize a lot of the things I want to. Things that I do on Android or I just don't do on Android because it really isn't so simple. I'm looking at Tasker with that one.

We'll see what happens. A friend of mine switched to the 5S recently. I mocked him, but that was right around the time my sister gave me permission to jailbreak her iPad, so I did. And that's when I discovered that there are just as many capable devs for iOS as there are for Android. If the OS limits them, that's a whole other issue. Most, if not all, of what I want can be done on iOS.

My sister's 4S camera seems much nicer compared to my S3's. We used it a ton in Orlando and they look much cleaner and more crisp. And I don't think I'm leaving MacOS anytime soon, so it will play well with that too.

We will see. I think we forget we customers do have a choice in what we buy. We vote with our wallets, blah blah blah. If Android doesn't tickle my fancy, I'm not going to get another phone running it. Apple's stocks aren't going to soar because I buy one more iPhone nor will Google tank if I don't buy an Android phone. Like Pitts' philosophy, do whatever the hell makes you happy. Though I can not say I'm upset with my S3.

So, Apple has their thing in June, right? Probably going to announce something. The only major player that hasn't announced shit this year. However, I'm afraid it's going to be a phone with a bigger screen.

There are sites that have congregated all the rumors for OSX 10.10 and iOS 8 as well. Still some time until WWDC, so those rumors are really just thin smoke. Especially when it comes to Apple. They're pretty good about keep stuff under wraps, or at least still keeping a few surprises until the unveiling.

I hope the Iphone 6 phones are going to have something really cool about them, just because there's that Status Quo on the phone market and whoever comes up with something new and cool immediately gets copied by the others. For the last 2 years or so it was Apple copying software solutions from Android, now it's Apple's turn to do something first (and I don't mean a fingerprint reader). I'm especially hoping for tiny bezels - if they significantly reduce the bezel size, the device footprint wouldn't get much bigger despite using much bigger screen.

I wouldn't buy an Iphone yet because I really find iOS inconvenient to use, and it doesn't provide me with the same feeling of safety that I can do whatever I need on my phone that Android does to me. Needing to unrar and edit graphic files away from my computer and email them rared back? No big deal on Android. Wanna download all kinds of files from someone's laptop when travelling? No big deal, just plug in the usb cable and transfer files, then I can work on them on my phone if needed. An Iphone wouldn't give me the same comfort and I'd be worried that I won't be able to do something that needs to be done, just because of iOS' limitations, lack of regular micro usb etc. Kind of like limitations I felt when owning a Macbook Air, just bigger.
