Rapper Lil Wayne plans to quit hip-hop within five years to become the owner of basketball team. The 25-year-old star, real name Dwayne Michael Carter Jr., has no intention of rapping into his 30s, and he wants to join the likes of Jay-Z and Nelly as sports moguls.

He says, "When I'm 30 or 35, I don't want to be into this s**t no more. I want to own a basketball team or some kind of team.

"That's why I'm in the studio every night. Now, I'm 25. You think I'm gonna be doing this s**t 10 years from now? Or even five? That's my drive."

So what, most rappers' careers aren't that long anyway. Besides, coming from Lil Wayne, that statement doesn't mean much, since he's already been recording for nearly ten years. No one will give a fuck about him anyway after five years anyway.

he is a fag, he'll be rapping just like every other faggot ass mother fucker that says they are gonna retire. he'll have whored himself out by then like the gay ass black eyed peas

Lil Wayne will never own a team. He doesn't have the business skills to acquire enough guap to own part of a team, much less be involved with running one. Jigga had Rocawear and oversaw Roc-a-fella/Def Jam, Nelly had Vokal and oversaw Derrty Ent.; Wayne oversees a label that hasn't put out anything yet, much less his own album.

He also has to understand that with that kind of approach/language, no one will take him seriously.

The idiot thinks that business = rap.

Jay-Z, Sean and even Nelly can make the difference easily and approach their buyers/sellers in a different way than when they approach their rap fans...

He wont do shit. He's a wannabe idiot.

But even Jay-Z isn't 100% there yet. I remember watching him on David Letterman, and he was just so jittery and using far too much slang than necessary when on a show like that.

lol...Wow! at some of you people ripping into Wayne. Shit... at least he has a little more substance than half of these other commercial chumps out. He is making moves and its obvious that most of you "i only listen to meaningful rap" fucks are totally jealous of him. Get over it.

^ But nobody has really dissed him as a rapper... he's not bad, no one is disputing that. It's his cockiness along with him trying to predict the future and want to magically become a businessman and part-owner of an athletic team in five years' time when in fact all he is (from a business aspect) a rapper who:

A. Was appointed President of Cash Money Records, did nothing, then stepped down
B. Is the CEO of Young Money Entertainment but hasn't put out a single legitimate product from that venture
C. Still hasn't put out his own album (which requires his own input business-wise) but as made 900 guest appearances (which don't require too much business input since it's up to that artist to promote and market their own songs)

If he has the money, he can do it. You think Jigga negotiates deals by himself? You think Nelly does it? They have people who do it for them.

If Weezy has the money, he can do it. It doesn't take a degree in entrepreneurship to take part ownership of a team. It's not like Jigga and Nelly own the nets and the bobcats, they are part owners.

^ But I doubt Lil Wayne has the money or will have the money. He's not smart or business oriented enough. Like I said before, you have to venture outside of music to get the guap to own portions of an athletic team or whatever. Jay-Z had Rocawear and some nightclubs and promoted some alcoholic beverages, Nelly had Vokal, 50 (though he doesn't own a sports team) had G-Unit clothing and Vitamin Water. Wayne doesn't have shit on them financially. Not even Suge in his prime (Death Row ~1996) had the financial firepower to do something like that (I'd say).

It takes more than wanting to get money and talking about it.

No they don't need a degree, but at least they need a sense of entrepreneurship!!! Lil Wayne does NOT have it!

He was named president of CMR, and he did absolutely nothing!!!! He did one hit song on which he could have easily built a follow up and made a few hit songs after that, but he didn't.

Jay-Z NOW has people who do deals for him, but he made it with his own knowledge and abilities.

The people who have people who negotiate their deals are people who have made it business wise... Do you think that Jay-Z had people taking decisions for him after reasonable doubt?

Lil Wayne is nothing compared to what Jay-Z is...

And Zimbabwe, this has nothing to do with his rapping skills.
