Ill give you schweinsteiger but in the group stages podolski started a meaningless game against the US and was subbed on once besides that. Klose was subbed on twice and scored one against ghana, which made it so the US game didn't matter so that's cool, they were going to advance in that group no matter what though.
In the knockouts podolski didn't play at all and Klose did play once against Brazil but who didn't score against Brazil, it was 7-1. And yes Klose set a record but that was over a career not for this tournament, Muller was the one going off.
Schweini is schweini but it's not like Germany doesn't have a wealth of midfielders to replace him.
Then I don't remember Gotze having issues that were that serious. Looking back he played in every match except for the one against brazil. And he did score the game winner in the final. I do remember him catching a knock during the tournament but he was still able to play.
I agree about the momentum thing but they seemed full of confidence. They played like they were supposed to win and that had always been the issue with them and Bayern.

No I mean Gotze has like blood disease issues now so cant play even though he wasnt too old. He won Man of the Match against Brazil that tournament.

I just think without Klose, Mueller and Schweini and the others who were really "that" Germany that went for the World Cup and Euro run in that era the team just didnt have glue and any really motivation. I dont think they played confidence, that's just the way Germans are, they tried to play like the machine but when it started falling apart they couldnt adapt -- I call it the blue screen of death effect that a lot of Germans have when things dont go to plan but they still appear confident, but it's not actual confidence if you get what I mean. It's almost like what you said "we're supposed to win" but that's not real confidence based on performance or momentum or anything real, just what they've been told.

Germans were always the second hope for us, as like a third of them were born Polish or are kids of those born Polish. Now even they didn't leave their group, apparently for the first time since the second world war.
Oh well, gotta watch Brazil. I gambled on them winning in the WC thread, plus their football is pleasant to watch, and so are their fans.
Gotta say it's very interesting to watch Argentina, as Maradona is their coach, which is a huge thing apparently, and it was amusing to see him flipping the bird and screaming "Goal, putos!" at Nigeria. Apparently he also placed a $10k bounty on those who reported that he's dead or something, lmao. The only guys who don't seem to be too amused about Maradona coaching is the freaking team he's coaching. Messi was like "should we just lose to make it finally stop?". He was an amazingly agile footballer, but he wasn't known for being tactical at all (he might be the only player in history who appeared to shoot more times than he passed, sometimes dribbling through the whole field instead), so it's hard to imagine him being a great coach, and his personality must be horrible to deal with.

Yesterday at work for the last 3 hours they told us to just sit around and do nothing because it was slow. I opened up streethop and clicked on this thread and it took me to the first page for whatever reason so I started reading it. Between then and now I skimmed through this thing in it's entirety. AMA
I still feel that this forum should have a Discord chat. It might kill the forum but I don't get the urge to check SH on my phone or iPad which means talking about Android shit with Masta and others requires me to log in and type on a tiny ass screen with a forum UI meant for desktop.
Plus, with Discord responses would likely be faster. And we could cut down on the shitposts/freeposts, which isn't that big a deal anyway.

Yeah, I meant to say I don't have the site bookmarked on mobile so I have to type in "street" or something to get it to pull it from my history and then hope the link is to Our Block and not page 4234242 of the Android thread.
Just a pain to deal with on mobile screens, too.
To type, the keyboard on both my iPad and S7 cover the text box after the first line or two and I have to just guess what I'm writing doesn't have typos or gets autocorrected to something completely different
My 2 year old niece is killing me today. I made her pancakes and she kept making a mess with the batter and so i'm like hey stop it's not a game it's not funny and she quickly responds back you're not funny. Then she wanted more after we ate and there were none left and she's like go get more so I say it's not that easy and she goes it's not that difficult. I love kids more than anything but whenever I hang out with my younger cousins (I have cousins as young as 1...hi catholic breeding family) I realize I’m not ready.
