Yeah, so annoying. It was an obvious choice but now I'm not sure if waiting for next year's smartphones is not the better choice :-(
No SGS4 until the next summer or so though and HTC Deluxe is not going to be a global phone after all - it's just something in between the One series and next year's HTC series.

It's so much easier when buying TVs and whatnot because you can have a 2 year old model that isn't significantly inferior to this year's model. With phones, however, the difference is pretty big. Buying HTC One or SGS3 now would already feel like buying a device on the older size, which is crazy.

So yeah, the Nexus 4 is the best choice now but it's annoying that there's no word on when it'd be possible to get one.

The Google Play store in the US will restock today. Hopefully the UK store will do the same tonight/tomorrow (with enough stock to go round, and if it does sell out, then restocking not to take the piss).

I wonder when/if Google Play will expand and ship hardware outside of the few countries they support right now. I find it really weird that 80% of Europe can't even buy anything other than apps from Google Play. They currently support 6 countries worldwide in total! That's crazy. Asia is such a huge market and there's no asian country supported by Google Play.

On a side note I played with my friend's Nexus 10. While I think it's the coolest 10 inch tablet around (although I don't dig the design it feels good in hand) but I can't get used to a 10 inch tablet anymore. Nexus 7 is so much more comfortable to use and type on. Another thing is resolution - with a 2,5k display it's really weird because most content is just too small - full HD videos are too small and pictures taken with some older DSLR cameras are too small, haha. Forget about zooming ANYTHING as well. Even without zoom most things feel pixelated compared to perfectly sharp UI. 1080P displays on 5 inch phones sound scary as well.
Also, I think someone should finally make a good 8 inch tablet. The 8.9 form factor Samsung (and Motorola) used was close to perfect imho.

how can i get into the french or the german Google Play store?

I have tried buying an N4 from the US Google Play, but when it comes to selecting the address, my address is greyed out and i can only insert an american location.

Any way of getting round this?

Google even said themselves that I can order from another region.

^ I'm afraid it's impossible. In Poland it's impossible to order from the German Play Store, for example people selling the Nexus 4 on Polish auction sites buy in bulk from Google Play in Germany, resell at the price of the SGS3 and ship from Germany to Poland. Easy profit, just because they were able to get it from Google Play there.

The only other way is to have a foreign address, even temporarily - or a friend who lives there who could later send it to you. It's not worth it risking shipping from the US though, I'd say.

Having had one for 2 weeks now has been BAWWWSSSS.

But then!

A second wild Nexus 4 appeared! :D :D :D

(Also I got them for less than Google charges :D )

Without a doubt, the best smartphone on the planet.... by a mile. Even the S3, Note 2 and Xperia T cannot compare..... and they all cost £200 more.

Google and LG knocked it out of the fucking park. Scratch that, they knocked it out of the park and into outer fucking space. This phone is beyond incredible.

I ordered one. But.... I doubt it will replace my S3. Just bought one to have a play, and then will probably give it to my mum, or someone.

I played with one at the long last. It's a cool phone but if I had the S3 I probably wouldn't change it. I'd miss the AMOLED so damn much and other differences are minor. The SGS3 has a better camera, audio and build quality.

See, I prefer the IPS screen on the N4 to the AMOLED. Sure, the blacks aren't as deep but I find the colors to be more sharper and more accurate. I also much prefer the industrial build design on the N4, with the glass and texturized rubber to the plastic of the S3. Also I don't know whether it's to do with 4.2, the 2GB of RAM, or the S4 Pro processor (probably all three) but the N4 is so much snappier than the S3. I literally can't make it lag even with loads of apps running and really intense live wallpapers set to the highest framerate.
