Google has released their official apology for the Nexus 4 situation.
So it sounds like LG are being a bitch, not really enjoying the fact that Google sells their phone for half of their overpriced offer:

Dear all

I know that what you are going through is unacceptable and we are all working through the nights and weekends to resolve this issue. Supplies from the manufacturer are scarce and erratic, and our communication has been flawed. I can offer an unreserved apology for our service and communication failures in this process.

For those that originally received a 3-5 days shipping estimate, your orders are now in process for fulfillment. You can expect an email notification early this week which will include tracking information. Although you will be initially charged in full, you will receive a credit for the shipping charge soon after.

For others that received pre-Christmas shipping estimates, we anticipate processing your orders for fulfillment this week.

I realise that the people who ordered the Nexus 4 so early are among our most committed and loyal users and we are doing all we can to put things right.

Sorry again.

Being that I'm on a family plan on t-mobile with 4 other people I just called around to different t mobile stores til one had one, went in and picked it up for $150, but I get a mail in rebate for $150 and then have to pay $400 over 20 months. So it's $400 basically. But! I also got my bill dropped 30%, no fucking lie. Their new value plans are no joke. So I'm paying the cheapness now, shit is tight.

I picked up the phone and fell in love. It's pretty

Sounds good. It that $400 over 20 months including the phone and the plan? Sounds really good to me.

Also, 8GB or 16GB?

Lol that's just for the phone. I pay about 45 a month for unlimited everything now. So it'll be 65 a month in the end. Which is still cheaper than Verizon Sprint or at&t. 16gb

I've had my Nexus 4 for a few days too.

Pretty happy. I miss the S3 a little. But it is less plasticy and is an experience phone. I always want vanilla android, but I wasn't happy with the nexus s or the galaxy nexus. This is more like it.

I gave the S3 to my mum.

Nice. I think I'm gonna get an all body skin for it. I never used a phone case before but I want to protect this a bit. Anyone know of any good ones

Don't know if they sell the in america but the S-line gel cases are good. It's the one I have. You can get them in like 5 different colours - so take your pick. They're on eBay.

Well, so Sony is going to unveil their new early 2013 line up of Androids in less than a week from now.
Apparently this is their new Xperia Z (or ZL):

Quad core Krait, 5 inch full hd display, 12mpx camera, 2gigs of ram, Jelly Bean.

edit: Here's their other phone, with apparently similar specs:

Same internals different design, odd. Is that the front facing camera on the bottom of the phone on the top one?

Rumored that LG is going to show off an edge to edge screen at CES, I'll be so excited to see the form factor if they do

^ Yeah, it's a front facing camera on the bottom right. Kind of weird but Nokia does it too. I guess in this case they wanted small bezel on top.

Judging by the designs it looks like it's going to be a much better year compared to 2012. Finally those bezels are getting smaller. There's still room for improvement but perhaps another company will beat Sony on that field this year. Sony was always the one showing their cards first (usually with products that barely beat previous generation hardware-wise) only for others to beat them afterwards.
I'm looking forward to HTC's lineup - they're the company that has to do something to survive.

So Samsung have finally confirmed their plans to move away from Android. They have a new OS called Tizen coming out. Does that mean we'll see the demise of Bada or will it co-exist with Tizen? I think they should focus on only one?

I do see the positives in having an in-house OS as opposed to relying upon another company being in control of the software - BUT Samsung could be shooting themselves in the foot here. I think it's far too soon to be considering a move away from Android. Maybe Tizen could stumble and they remain with Android OS for longer. After all, Bada seemed okay but had some difficulties in maintaining it's place. I remember how Masta preferred it to Android at the time of the Samsung Galaxy S and the Samsung Galaxy Wave.

Competition will be good, but I hope Samsung remain a key partner with Google.

Samsung aren't really going to move away with Android. They are doing great with Android. With Tizen they are just experimenting with a back-up plan. They are pouring billions into their smartphone business - they need something in case Google screw up with Android at some point to keep their business going.
Picture this - Samsung is the biggest smartphone manufacturer, if Android fails at some point and people will move away from it Samsung would be screwed. Sure, they make WP smartphones but from all we know despite hundreds of millions in marketing WP is LOSING market share (3,6% to 3% drop over the last 3 months in the US). There's iOS but it's exclusive to Apple. Samsung need a back up plan and Bada is a very niche thing (though its global market share is actually bigger than WP's).

Bada for me was a decent OS because it had all the smartphone features with all the positives of a feature phone (like 10day+ stand by battery life). Bada 2.0 was a bit heavier, but their biggest problem is really small amount of apps. I switched to Android because there was no Google Maps or Skype for Bada. Also it was only a tad more customizable than iOS - Touchwiz is coded deeply into the OS.

Samsung actually wanted to integrate Bada key features into Tizen and make Tizen the combination of those two but I'm not sure what happened with those plans. Samsung being the biggest player in the game certainly wouldn't want to be left without successful OS for their great hardware and currently there are no good options apart from Android and iOS. Samsung need a plan B.
