Messi wasnt bad in the World Cup though. it wasnt like he completely disappeared in matches like Ronaldo seems to do alot.

that said, it was extremely difficult for Ronaldo to do anything in that game on monday.

Sebas, don't waste your time on hypocrite Sands. He has a CR voodoo doll to burn and at least 3 wank sessions over his Barca poster planned for today.

im no barca fanboy.IN fact, if i was to pick a team in Spain it would be Valencia. I do, however, admire a really great football team full of exceptionally talented players. Your hate for a great football team is ridiculous. you made such a big deal over the one negative you could find (which was actually nothing) and never even mentioned anything about the football they played that night.

just be men about it and admit you were wrong for once.

Your right though, Seb was wasting his time because he was wrong in what he said and then in his arrogance he tells me to look at the video again which clearly proves what i said to be correct.

keep arguing the opposite though if it makes you feel better.

you calling me a hypocrite is hilarious really. you are the biggest hypocrite going. i remember you used to come here blasting Germany for anti football a couple of years ago yet in the past year or so you have been doing alot sticking up for and supporting anti football.

Germany didn't play anti-football in 2008, they just sucked incredibly hard. That was my beef with them.

Me sticking up for anti football was only relative to Barca - Inter, on which I was absolutely a 100% correct.

You know thats the reason why i have my doubts about video proofs in football:

Here is a guy totally capable of seeing with his own eyes. He looks at the video and sees something which is not there. How the fuck do you handle this problem?!

Ronaldo clearly ran the ball out of play in that video. seriously, can you not see that at the start of that video i posted?

i dont care which way the decision went, its irrelevant in this debate. but who knocked the ball out of play?

look, ive proven you wrong here. just move on and stop being such an arrogant twat about it.

making a big deal over such a non issue like that is laughable after a display of football like that.

They were anti-football by default because they sucked that year. It wasn't a conscious attempt to stifle every match.

Actually, youve got a problem with your eyes and your comprehensive skills .

I never claimed Ronaldo didnt knock the ball out of the field. I said the referee awarded Real the ball (freekick). Which he did.

Are you living in a parallel universe?

^I disagree.

Messi was good in the opening games but what he did a lot was try to be the hero. Trying too hard to score a goal, as the media kept pointing it out. In the knockout stages he played more for himself then he did for the team. His overall play was good, his team play was lacking. Against South Korea he was at times almost unplayable, vs Greece he was marked out the game for 80 minutes but then burst into life, against Nigeria he played well but as the game went on and on he over did his dribbles, the same against Mexico. Against Germania he never got into the game and when he did his attitude was more for himself, he didn't want to pass the ball at all. Messi is still immature at international level, but then again he's 22.

C.Ronaldo on the other hand was shit like you said. What bothers me about C.Ronaldo is he doesn't show up much for Portugal either, in the Euros vs Germany he pretty much disappeared, he didn't want the ball and it was Nani who actually gave a lot more than C.Ronaldo did, when Portugal were pressing for a goal, Nani was everywhere, C.Ronaldo stood around and he looked lost. Vs Spain in the WC he did the same, he put in no effort at all then at the end of the game disrespected the manager by blaming it all on him. C. Ronaldo was boo'd in Portugal for his lacklustre performances for the national side, but i didn't see the media point this out as much as they do with Messi.

The WC sucked for the most hyped up players, this isn't a new thing. 2006 there wasn't a single standout performer, 2002 Ronaldo/Rivaldo apart the rest were average. I find it strange a lot of domestic players fail at the biggest stage, maybe its tiredness or just pressure. Who knows.

Anyway. The shortlist for the World Player of the year was released:

Xavi
Messi
Iniesta.

I don't feel Iniesta deserves to be in the top 3. He barely played in the league last season, Sneijder should be in there.

Messi don't deserve it.... Even after 47 goals.... Or however many it was.

I don't remember Messi playing well at the WC. And I watched every game. I got paid to watch them... lol

I watched every Argentina game and felt he decent, not good, or great and not shit either, the South Korea game was his best game. The fact he hit the woodwork about 3-4 times during the WC shows how unlucky he was to score.

I don't think his domestic achivements should be ignored. We could disregard pretty much anyone after the WC and give it to Forlan or Villa. Xabi Alonso played better than Xavi did in the WC and apart from Sneijders goals his overall play wasn't great.

Forlan ftw.

Thuggy is right. he actually played pretty well. alot of the problem was Argentina's tactics and the fact there was no real creative midfield player to get the ball to him fast. Veron was too old. Messi was quite unlucky in some of the games too. the ball just wouldnt go in for him.

they reckon Iniesta will win it.

i dont begrudge him it. fantastic player but i think Xavi or Messi has done more overall this year and ultimately thats what the award is supposed to be for. Sneijder can feel hard done by for not getting nominated.
