Does the OG Droid have any special glass? Because this shit has a light scratch but it's still being a bitch. I think it's because of that or because of condensation from being a freezing cold room and then taking it outside in 90F heat and then back in to a freezing cold room. It tends to work fine for a bit after leaving it in a drawer instead of on a table in the direct cold.

The OG Droid has gorilla glass. It's just a thin layer on the outside of your display though, it just protects from scratches.

It's not super shatter-resistant but it still resists more than the Iphone's screen which shatters very easily. Not only the screen actually, also the back cover.
Gorilla glass is super scratch resistant but yeah, shattering is its weakness. It is able to withstand some abuse though.

The thing about gorilla glass is that it's very hard but extremely thin. It gets scratched only by harder things. For example it's harder than most metal but.. it can get scratched for example by grit.

It was in my backpack. I think it was either a coin or keys. And that also not me directly applying the force to a key and to the screen, but maybe just rattling around with keys and coins and just rubbing up against it. I dunno. I'm pissed.

So I'm looking for the ICS ROMs to start hitting devices and on CM's website, it appears that all nightlies, or most devices with them, had their last nightly updated on 11/16. Why is that?
Because ICS source code got made available on the 15th. So from that point on everyone started working on CM9, which there aren't nightlies for yet, although there's alphas for some devices.

Fucking awesome. It works. I did the gay little retweet thing they wanted me to do and got another 1GB free. And Spotify is weird in that it checks for your location when the app starts up.

I had TunnelBear running, started the app, it approved me, then I turned the app off. So I didn't have to waste my bandwidth while actually streaming. Seems to be working fine, switching between songs and all.

Nice fine.

No worries bro. Had to do the same thing the day Google Music launched, because the registration page was US-geolocked. And like I said, MTV and Hulu and shit like that is always US-locked.

Feels weird being on the other end of that stick.

And as for the OG Droid, now that the source has been released, what are the chances looking like for it? I've tried searching to see if any development is going on, but nothing shows up.

Not that it matters since my screen, as I've mentioned before, is fucked.

So I'm really into using apps to browse the sites/services I normally use my browser for.

For example, I've been using Reeder for over a year now for reading my news feed and I like it so much better than the lame layout that Google Reader has for browsers. For Twitter, and to some extent Facebook, I've been using Tweetdeck and found that to me a lot more fun and better than my mobile apps or the browser.

I just fucking love desktop apps. I just wish there was a way to include a lot more into one program. It may be cluttered, but I can work with that. Like if my Twitter, Facebook, RSS, and G+ were balled into one app. I don't even use G+ that much, but if it were on the same page as Twitter and Facebook, maybe I'd use that a bit more too.

Someone needs to get on this. Reddit needs an app like this too.

OK. So now I come to find out the GalNex is GSM? On VZW's website, it has it listed a CDMA device only. Not even as a "World/Global Phone."

I'm reading some places are selling it unlocked and they knock off $45 if you use the promo code "VZWSucks" or something like that. Still out of my price range at $685.

How do unlocked Nexus devices get updates from Google? Is it moderated by the carrier or what? If I got one here, where there are no Android devices on the carriers, would I still get the updates pushed to my phone? What determines that?

For some reason, my Nexus device gets the software updates way too late so I don't wait. I just simply download the updates when they roll out. The phone doesn't have to be rooted. Point is, you raise a good question but it doesn't matter much.

It depends if you update your phone Over the air/via your manufacturer's official program or upload them by yourself.
If you update OTA or via official program it detects the version you have now/ carrier code (depending on the phone) and checks if a corresponding update is available.
If you update by yourself you can use any software version.

Well, we're talking about Samsung's Galaxy Nexus. So I'd get updates from Samsung's website? Will they be "on time" in relation to when Google pushes them out to carriers?

I'm talking about an unlocked US GalNex being used on a carrier that has no Android phones to begin with. How will Google send it to them? Or better yet, for one person, why would they?

Is that the way every other person out there with an unlocked Nexus device got their updates?

I'm tempted now to get it.

Again, that or OTA. But my OTA shit never came on time and I didn't want to wait so I just did it manually. It's that simple, really. I think most people with Nexus devices didn't want to wait for the OTA updates.

Google won't push it to them. It doesn't work that way. You get an update based on wherever carrier the phone is originally from. If it was bought for example from Verizon, and then you brought it to whenever else and use it on network XYZ you get an update from Samsung for a Verizon version if the software was branded.
