My sister and dad upgraded from the 4S to the 6. Apple really has the feel of a phone down, pat. iOS is just bland. It really didn't seem worth a $200 upgrade.

I did manage to mess around with the G3 and S5/S5 Sport at Best Buy. When I will be ready to upgrade in March, I feel it will be very close to the S6 being released and possibly LG's flagship release as well.

After a quick Google search, there doesn't seem to be anything concrete on either make's release dates for their next flagships. Anyone have an educated guess?

Where's Masta for these things? That fucker was all over these things.

That will be good timing for me. I appreciate the Note series, but I'm not sure I'd like it long term. I hope the S6 is a decent enough upgrade from the S5. Or maybe that LG makes a worthy G3 successor.

$129 seems reasonable. $199 isn't. Definitely wasn't a $200 upgrade from the 4S to the 6 for my sister. She might say so, but it wasn't.

I'd say the S6 would be worth the upgrade from my S3. I would still wait to see if it was under $200 on contract with some weird discount deal.

There was about 8 months between the G2 and G3 so if LG continue at that pace you can expect the G4 around March.

I would expect the G4, the HTC One M9, the Xperia Z4 and the Galaxy S6 to all be out by May.

I just got my Nexus 6 last week. This phone is fucking phenomenal. Can't fault it. My old N5 seems tiny now.... strange.

Yeah I held the N6 and it felt OK, despite its otherwise large size. I do put a lot of weight into what reviewers say. A lot rag on the camera of the Nexus devices, in general. Camera and screen are important to me.

I'm just going to wait it out again. Last year, I waited it out and didn't pull the trigger on anything for different reasons. I still lived and my S3 is still going on strong. I could probably do it again and avoid having to renew for another two years again, because I'll be getting off my parents plan hopefully soon once I leave the house. So I have that option to keep open as well.

Anyone know how to activate an old phone on Sprint? Like my dad's old 4S is inactive now and I just wanted to use it as a daily driver for a week or something. How do I switch the numbers? Surprisingly, the Sprint.com directions ended up asking me to pay $30 for another line, but i feel it misunderstood what I was trying to do.

It works like that for 2 of the big 4 carriers. I am on Sprint, who like Verizon, is CDMA. So no SIM. Not even sold with a SIM slot in case you go overseas. This doesn't apply to the iPhone, though. SIM slot, but even when unlocked, can't be used on US carriers after the contract is up.

So your phone is as good as nothing when the contract ends? What a waste, can't even be recycled or sold to someone who'd like an older phone for cheaper?

It can be given to another Sprint customer or anyone on its subsidiary networks like Ting, Boost Mobile, Virgin, etc. It can also be used as my backup phone, but yeah not much else after that. Swappa exists for that.

Yup. It is. I told my sister to look around at T-Mobile or other carriers, since service can be spotty wherever we go. But she was so eager to get her upgrade, she egged my dad on to upgrade, and so he did too. Otherwise, T-Mobile is cheaper and even offers free data and texting while overseas in 100+ countries, especially the UK and India where my dad goes to once or twice a year.

But her dumbass wanted that iPhone so bad. So my dad and sister are renewed for another two years. I'm going to stick with this phone until I can get out the house and get my own plan and then look around at GSM carriers like T-Mobile and AT&T. Although, I dont travel much anymore, at least switching between phones or selling them afterwards is a lot easier.

Man tell them to switch to T-Mobile anyway, she can get an iphone still. They will pay your ETF fees as well. They can even trade in the phones they have now to them. I just went and put my gf on my plan, they're doing like 4 lines with 2.5 gb data for $100. It doesn't include your phone subsidy but that's only $20-$30, so it'd probably still be cheaper than what you have now

Yeah. 2.5 GB is enough for my three family members combined. I'm not sure how much data I really use, though. When I had CM and had poor signal, it was barely a gig. Now on stock and getting decent 4G in my house, I set twitter to sync all images and tweets every 30 minutes, just to use data. lol
So I'm at 7.5 GB as of yesterday, I think. Realistically, I don't read it all and WiFi is plenty fine at home.

My dad won't be bothered to switch. He's pretty stupid with money, so long as he has it. He switched from a regional carrier, US Cellular, to Sprint because my sister wanted the iPhone almost three years ago. He got one too, despite still just using it to make calls. He even insisted on an iPhone again when I told him to look at the S6, G3, etc.

So there's no talking him out of it. When it'll be my money, I'll be an uber-Jew about what service I get, but until then, it's whatever. He's not out looking for the best deal.
